Yes, Spring is here and with that comes....the spring cold. I suppose since I didn't get to suffer the runny nose, headaches, cough, fever, sore throat, sleeplessness and misery during the fall or winter months, I need the experience to remember how good it feels to breathe without mucous obstructions. I had ignored signs that I was being attacked. I didn't get right on with the usual remedies when my throat was dry or tickley. I wasn't drinking my water or getting proper sleeptime and then - tada!!! Yes, within a couple of hours I had somehow went from what I thought was normal to VERY SICK!
The day started okay. I had spent the last few weeks staying up late to help Melanie with schoolwork and other projects. This particular morning I had to get up early and put together my potluck dish for a company luncheon. Things were fine until after lunch...I started blowing my nose and my eyes were starting to burn and then the throat. Yes my throat was now raw and on fire. I must have picked up a bug from lunch. The afternoon was misery and by bedtime I knew I would not be returning to work the next day. I spent the day trying to sleep while blowing my now raw red nose and trying to find a pillow soft enough to lay my aching head on.
I had to be at work on Friday, so even though I could use another day of just resting I went. I actually started feeling better. Maybe it was just the flu.
However - Friday night the coughing started and I moved to the couch where I wouldn't bother Joel and spent the night there propped up hoping to get some sleep. Saturday I continued to do a small amount of nose blowing, but the coughing was the worst. It has seemed to moved on somewhat. We will see what tonight will bring.
It has been a nice day in spite of my affliction. Kelly spent the morning laying on the couch with his feet in my lap. Later I cut his hair and then he was off for the rest of the afternoon. The evening was nicely spent with my other two children and we spent some time reminiscing.
